As a Residential Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll be the heart of the home assisting residents with daily living, helping build skills, ensuring safety, and making each day meaningful. This role involves building supportive, person-centered relationships and delivering care in alignment with each individual’s Individual Support Plan (ISP), Behavior Support Plan, and personal goals. You will promote autonomy, dignity, and choice by empowering individuals to make decisions and exercise their rights. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, toileting, mobility), supporting household tasks (laundry, dishes, cleaning), assisting with meal planning, grocery shopping, budgeting, and food preparation. You will also facilitate community participation by supporting attendance at appointments, social activities, employment or training programs, and recreational outings, and may provide transportation. Medication administration or following medication protocols as trained and authorized is also part of the role. You will monitor and document changes in health, behavior, or circumstances, completing required documentation including daily notes, progress updates, and incident reports. Collaboration with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team members is key to ensure coordinated care. The role promotes social inclusion, skill development, independence, and community integration, and requires advocating for individual needs and rights while maintaining a respectful, safe, and supportive environment. Working collaboratively as part of a team, communicating effectively, and contributing to a positive and high-quality care setting are essential. The schedule includes a combination of 24-hour shifts (with overnight sleep periods) and daytime shifts, requiring availability on weekends (Friday–Monday).
