About The Position

Open Sky offers a broad range of mental health services for younger children and adolescents. We are committed to the use of evidence-based treatments, combined with age-appropriate wraparound services, to assist young children and adolescents to move beyond their social-emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric challenges and return successfully to their homes, schools, and the community. The Youth Group Care homes provide comprehensive treatment in a group care setting for youth (males and females) who have a history of psychiatric hospitalizations. The goal of the program is to work collaboratively with the youth and family to enhance personal, social, and independent living to prepare for family reunification or a transition to independent living. The program utilizes a Wraparound Philosophy which helps family, support members, and service providers work together to support the family and youth. Residential Counselors provide direct care and supervision to the youth and young adults served by the program. Counselors provide role modeling, guidance and advocacy to the youth served by the program. They also help to empower the youth served through the use of a trauma informed care approach and utilize such skills as compromising, negotiating, and problem solving. They help to keep the youth integrated into the community both locally and in their home towns. Additionally, counselors help prepare meals to share with the youth, so free food is an added perk!
