About The Position

River’s Edge Group Home is a therapeutic group home, located in Thompson, CT, on the border of JRI’s Susan Wayne Center of Excellence. The program serves adolescent girls ages 13 – 20, who often present with concurrent behavioral, mental health, and cognitive challenges. We are seeking Residential Counselors to effectively support the development and growth of young adults who have experienced significant emotional challenges. Our residential counselors are passionate about learning effective skills to better serve these young adults, display creative engagement tactics, and provide a safe environment for them to be successful. We take pride in our ability to maintain the consistent, structured routines of the program while also providing safety and regulation through twenty-four hour supervision and direct care.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must have High School Diploma.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college education preferred.
  • Experience is a group home, residential program or mental health facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform direct care responsibilities within the group home.
  • Direct supervision of students within the group home while maintaining the safety and security procedures as outlined by agency and program policy and procedures.
  • Lead by example and role model for all staff and students appropriate professional behavior within a group home setting.
  • Handle special projects as assigned by the Administrative Team, or designee.
  • Provide physical interventions and verbal de-escalations to provide the safest therapeutic atmosphere for our students.
