Mills House is a community-based group home which provides 24 hour staffing and a built in therapeutic component for 5 boys aged 14-21 who have experienced serious emotional and behavioral problems, and who have lived in more restrictive programs or institutions. The home allows the boys to live in a more familial, natural setting within the community. The program emphasizes maximizing each boy's ability to develop skills for living successfully outside of an institutional setting through the participation in normative community activities. As a Residential Counselor, you will maintain the physical environment and program standards, monitor self-administration of client medications, utilize appropriate communication methods to collaborate with co-workers and clients, teach and assist residents in activities of daily living, manage administrative functions, prepare and facilitate educational and skill-building groups, coordinate care with providers and families, assist residents in addressing medical and psychiatric needs, maintain documentation, and participate in staff meetings, supervision, and trainings.
