About The Position

This is a standard position description which involves responsibility for the provision of treatment and monitoring services to a wide range of dysfunctional clients in a human services agency. Specifically, the clients to be assigned for services rendered by this position are those that require task oriented short-term services and or monitoring and have a minimal range of psychosocial problems. An employee in this class is responsible for directed decision-making implementation of comprehensive Treatment Plans and the provisions of services under close and immediate supervision.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of one academic year of study in an accredited educational institution above the high school level; OR Graduation from High school or possession of a General Development High School Certificate (GED) and one year of successful work experience, which involves experience in care service to youth in a residential program for behavior problems and /or delinquent youths.
  • Possession of a valid Virgin Islands driver's license

  • Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques of social work and the various social, psychological, economic and emotional factors influencing the behaviors and attitudes of individuals and /or families.
  • Ability to learn human developmental theory and psychological intervention process.
  • Ability to learn departmental and community resources.
  • Ability to elicit pertinent information from people and relate such information to a helpful course of action; present ideas and information clearly and concisely, orally or in writing; exercise tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid Virgin Islands driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Provides under close and immediate supervision for the provision of psycho-social intervention to minimally complex cases involving social physical and emotional problems
  • Serves as consultant to less experienced staff, and provides competent crisis, individual and family intervention services under close and immediate supervision.
  • Represents the department in court and at a variety of meetings, seminars, and conferences.
  • Supervises daily living activities of residents, such chores, dressing, meals, etc.
  • Disseminates information on laws and regulations affecting the client's population as it relates to clients and the public.
  • Maintains a record on each client relative to medical documentation crisis care, and incident reports.
  • Assists in the implementation of resident activities such as indoor/outdoor recreation, and field trips.
  • Prepares and dispenses resident's breakfast, snacks, and light emergency meals.
  • Transports resident to hospitals, doctor's offices, schools or on other trips.
  • Performs other duties as required.
