About The Position

Easterseals New Jersey has been serving individuals with disabilities and their families since 1948. Their programs for individuals with mental health conditions offer daily living support and community-based programs designed to teach essential life skills through instruction and practical application. The Residential Counselor will support group home residents in their daily lives and provide high-quality services aimed at helping consumers achieve measurable outcomes aligned with their Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRP).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in mental health, psychology, sociology, or social work, human services or a related field from an accredited college or university OR A combination of one (1) or more years’ of college, plus related life or work experience equal to four (4) years OR High school diploma or GED plus four (4) years of related work or life experience required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Candidates must be subject to post-offer verification of driving eligibility consistent with company insurance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support consumers in achieving personal care goals and addressing ongoing challenges.
• Educate consumers on medications, track logs, and conduct monthly audits.
• Coordinate services based on individual needs.
• Transports consumers using the company van as needed.
• Deliver high-quality care in line with Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRP).
• Accurately document services within required timeframes using electronic health records.
