About The Position

Residential Counselors are part of a multi-disciplinary team that provide therapeutic interventions based on their scope of practice determined by experience, education, and observation of skill. Our Counselors provide valuable services including the facilitation of consumer-directed goal setting and providing assistance in helping the individuals served become respected and valued members of their family and community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related program or associate's degree and experience working in a residential treatment center or program that treats individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
  • Skill in client assessment, including the use and withdrawal from substances, change in psychiatric status, physical health and safety.
  • Knowledge and experience in the treatment of mental illness and substance-use populations.
  • Knowledge and skill in maintaining care that is trauma-informed and recovery-oriented.
  • Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations governing confidentiality.
  • Skill in working and communicating with others.
  • Demonstrates a high standard of professional conduct and ethical behavior that will enhance the quality of care and encourage positive interactions among staff
  • Valid drivers’ license and appropriate vehicle insurance.
  • You are occasionally required to walk distances up to 2 miles and participate in wellness activities alongside Participants

Responsibilities

  • Participation in intake, evaluation, assessment, side by side support, co-facilitation of psycho education groups, co-facilitation of family education and support and case management for individuals and their families. This is done under direct clinical supervision and based on their scope of practice as identified by WestBridge.
  • Provide support to participants in completing daily tasks as identified in each participant’s Personal Achievement Agenda (treatment plan).
  • Occasionally participates in new participant outreach visits (“meet and greet”). Travel may be required.
  • Provides clinical updates to families and with other collateral contacts.
  • Attend self-help meetings and other recovery-oriented community activities with participants.
  • Within scope of practice, provides ongoing assessment of participants for changes in mental status or symptoms associated with mental health and substance use disorders. Collaborates with team to provide supportive interventions as needed. Documents services provided in an appropriate manner using company-approved forms and systems.
  • Attends Individual and Group Supervision.
