About The Position
BAMSI is seeking a dedicated Residential Counselor to provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE). This role focuses on fostering skills for daily living and community integration, helping residents learn, grow, and thrive. BAMSI is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1975, committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Accessibility, and aims to abolish stigmas surrounding mental illness, disability, and addiction.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to assist with mobility (bending, standing, etc.)
- Strong communication skills (English)
- Basic computer proficiency
- Compassion, patience, and a commitment to trauma-informed care.
Nice To Haves
- Mental health experience preferred
- Lived experience or multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese)
Responsibilities
- Teach ADLs (cooking, budgeting, medication management) and socialization skills.
- Implement Treatment Plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
- Administer/supervise medications per MAP guidelines and document care.
- Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
- Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
- Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.
