Residential Counselor MAP
About The Position
BAMSI is seeking a dedicated Residential Counselor to provide rehabilitative support to adults in Group Living Environments (GLE). This role focuses on fostering skills for daily living and community integration, making a direct impact on residents' growth and independence. BAMSI is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in Brockton, MA in 1975, committed to "bringing people and services together" to enrich the lives of children, families, individuals, and seniors. The organization impacts over 50,000 individuals annually and is dedicated to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Accessibility, aiming to create a holistic system of care and abolish stigmas surrounding mental illness, disability, and addiction.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to assist with mobility (bending, standing, etc.)
- Strong communication skills (English)
- Basic computer proficiency
- Compassion, patience, and a commitment to trauma-informed care.
Nice To Haves
- Mental health experience preferred
- Lived experience
- Multilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese)
Responsibilities
- Teach ADLs (cooking, budgeting, medication management) and socialization skills.
- Implement Treatment Plans and behavioral interventions under clinician guidance.
- Administer/supervise medications per MAP guidelines and document care.
- Transport residents to appointments and community activities.
- Advocate for residents’ needs and model healthy coping strategies.
- Maintain a safe, clean home environment and complete timely documentation.
