About The Position

The Residential Coordinator (R.C.) is a live-in, dorm-parent role responsible for supporting gap year students (ages 17–22) residing in on-site apartments. This position typically works approximately 40 hours per week, primarily evenings and weekends, and requires overnight presence whenever students are in residence. The R.C. serves as a mentor to students, supports the work of full-time program staff, and enforces disciplinary policies as needed. The R.C. manages the residential environment while living in a separate one-bedroom apartment and reports directly to the Assistant Program Director overseeing Residential Life. Compensation includes housing and utilities for the duration of the appointment, along with a bi-weekly paycheck reflecting an average 40-hour workweek. Students reside on campus in 8–10-week sessions, totaling approximately 30 weeks annually (September–May). Prior experience in college residential life is highly preferred. The Residential Coordinator provides leadership aligned with the mission of Dynamy and YOU, Inc., serving as an integral member of the Residential Life team. This role is responsible for fostering a supportive, respectful, and independent residential community. The R.C. oversees and implements operational, educational, counseling, and disciplinary components within the residence, promoting student development and a strong sense of community.

Requirements

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and exercise discretion and independent judgment in the assessment and treatment of students.
  • Minimum of a B.A. in field of social services or related field required.
  • At least two years of experience in college residential life preferred.
  • Previous experience in field, experience with transitional age students, and/or understanding of social service agencies with demonstrated ability to work successfully in fast paced, demanding environments preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record to fulfill essential job functions is required, as travel is involved in this position.
  • Must be able to perform sedentary aspects of position, including, but not limited to capability of fulfilling demands of driving/transporting students as necessary.
  • Must be in relatively good health and be able to perform the duties listed above, including but not limited to, participating in activities with students which include sports, exercise and other general wellness initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ongoing operation and supervision of students within the residence with an overall emphasis placed on the ongoing safety of students, staff and physical plant.
  • Responsible for creating a community of respect for space, material and person.
  • Responsible for holding weekly house meetings with students in their residence.
  • Responsible for maintenance and implementation of program policies and program development.
  • Responsible for writing nightly updates and semester check-ins about students in their residences.
  • Responsible for completing weekly and monthly inspections of the residence.
  • Responsible for reporting maintenance issues for the residence in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for completing minor maintenance projects in the residence.
  • Responsible for coordinating and completing monthly fire drills.
  • Responsible for responding to communication from students as issues arise.
  • Responsible for planning, coordinating and executing optional week night and weekend activities for the students.
  • Attend a week-long orientation session in addition to in-program orientation specific to the requirements and role of the position at Dynamy.
