About The Position

Evergreen Recovery Centers is launching a new 90-day inpatient program for women with co-occurring disorders and mental health needs called "Rainwood." This program emphasizes a trauma-informed, recovery-centered, and strengths-based approach, providing a safe and structured environment for healing and empowerment. Key components include comprehensive clinical assessments, individualized treatment plans, and group therapy sessions. The program serves women of all backgrounds, fostering a community of support and understanding. It integrates evidence-based practices, holistic therapies, and experiential components like mindfulness training and recreational activities to enhance personal growth and resilience, highlighting the importance of connection, self-discovery, and lasting recovery.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in psychology or similar counseling (specialization in addiction preferred).
  • At least one year full-time experience in treatment of persons with substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders in a SUD treatment setting.
  • Licensure by Washington State Department of Health as a certified Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP).
  • Licensure by Washington State Department of Health as an Associate in a Mental Health Counselor discipline (fully licensed mental health counselor preferred).
  • Offer of employment is conditional upon review of Criminal Background Check and ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Clear understanding of substance use disorder (SUD,) withdrawal, and treatment resources for recovery, including 12-step programs.
  • Growing competence in treating people with common co-occurring disorders, including the role of psychotropic medications.
  • Ability to integrate mental health therapy and primary chemical dependency treatment into an integrated service plan with measurable milestones and goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise considerable independent clinical judgment and initiative in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain current, accurate, complete, and well-written assessments, patient treatment plans, progress notes articulating movement and adjustments.
  • Ability to conduct individualized patient-centered treatment that incorporates into all stages of treatment the patient’s own assessment of their strengths, needs, abilities and preferences.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and set a positive example of behaviors for patients.
  • Work cooperatively with patients, coworkers, and external agencies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with appropriate State and Federal laws and in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work with diverse ethnic populations and a variety of people with different problems.
  • Effective written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Substance Use Disorder (SUD) assessments for clinical and legal purposes, with an awareness of the mental health needs for people with co-occurring disorders.
  • Provide individual counseling and case management for a caseload of individuals with co-occurring addiction and mental disorders, including determining an appropriate treatment approach for persons with medications that are not conducive to abstinence-based groups.
  • Conduct educational classes and treatment groups as assigned.
  • As a primary counselor, develop, review at least monthly, and amend an individualized service plan that addresses treatment of substance use disorder as well as co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Record patient notes on the day of contact and ensure files are maintained in accordance with organization’s policies and procedures and specific contract requirements.
  • Ensure timely, complete communication and treatment progress reports to courts, referents and resource agencies, as appropriate.
  • Maintain ongoing collaboration with CPS, DCFS, courts and other applicable agencies as well as conduct ongoing discharge planning.
  • Complete patient progress notes and treatment plan revisions in a timely fashion and in a manner that another counselor could pick up the file and know how to work with the patient.
  • Provide finance department with records of time engaged in counseling activities, case management, drug court staff meetings, and other activities billable under appropriate contracts.
  • Follow patient confidentiality as outlined in organizational policy, 42 CFR. 45 CFR and relevant State laws.
  • Identify psychiatric, medical or other services and facilitate patient referral, as appropriate.
  • Take on a share of additional groups for fellow counselors during absences.
  • Attend staff meetings and provide clinical input, attend in-house trainings by consulting psychiatrist, and complete all mandatory staff trainings as scheduled.
  • Participate in research, and organizational activities as assigned.
