About The Position

The Residential Clinician provides treatment to individuals receiving services from Vanderheyden. Treatment includes individual, family, and group therapy. The Clinician is responsible for tasks requiring clinical knowledge, judgment, and experience, including planning, implementing, and guiding treatment in all aspects of daily living during the individuals' placement at Vanderheyden. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited program in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, or a related area.
  • Experience in providing therapy/treatment services for at-risk youth and families.
  • Relevant licensure.
  • Valid and current driver's license.
  • Ability to work a 40-hour work week.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and run for moderate periods of time.
  • Must have a valid NYS driver's license.
  • Ability to perform restraints and maintain TCI certification.
  • Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally diverse population.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all requirements of 291 Licensure.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, including NYSED Guidelines.
  • Participate in the intake and planning process, including reviewing pre-placement material and participating in pre-placement interviews and assessments.
  • Provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for assigned individuals.
  • Provide formal individual therapy to assigned individuals weekly.
  • Provide formal family therapy to assigned families bi-weekly.
  • Develop and facilitate weekly group therapy sessions in areas such as Anger Management, Social Skills, Substance Abuse Education, and Healthy Relationships/Sexuality Education.
  • Provide crisis intervention on an as-needed basis.
  • Conduct mediation on an as-needed basis.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with individuals' families/guardians regarding medication and clinical matters.
  • Consider different views, experiences, orientations, and cultural differences when planning treatment.
  • Monitor communication logs and individual logs for assigned individuals.
  • Chair treatment team meetings to facilitate the development, ongoing assessment, and modifications of individuals' Comprehensive Treatment Plans.
  • Attend CSE and school-related meetings as necessary.
  • Attend weekly medication reviews with the agency Psychiatrist.
  • Attend weekly Clinical Consult Meetings with Case Coordinator and House Manager.
  • Complete Case Coordinator's responsibilities in their absence as deemed necessary.
  • Participate in bi-weekly staff meetings.
  • Complete IEP goals and grading.
  • Complete progress notes regarding clinical sessions and inter/intra-agency contacts, reflecting services offered, individual and family response, and treatment progress in a timely manner.
  • Complete all Comprehensive Treatment Plans in a timely manner.
  • Complete Behavior Support Plans (BSP) monthly and update as necessary.
  • Perform on-call consultation duties as assigned.
  • Engage in department planning and goal attainment.
  • Be proficient with agency electronic record and billing systems.
