About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Residential Site Manager, the Residential Care Specialist provides services to consumers with a MH, SA, or Dual Diagnosis in a 24/7 community-based residential program. This role involves providing skills training and education on daily living skills such as budgeting, performing household chores, personal hygiene, social skills, and meal preparation. The specialist will also provide case management services, assist with transportation, and observe consumers taking medications as prescribed. Monitoring and documenting consumer progress in treatment using the designated format and within established time frames is a key responsibility. Computer knowledge and extensive documentation are required. The incumbent must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Valid GA driver’s license with less than 5 points.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain CPR Certification.
  • Computer knowledge and extensive documentation is required.
  • Must be physically and emotionally fit to work in a stress-filled environment.
  • May have extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing.
  • Requires varying hours of duty.
  • Ability to travel to off campus locations in BHSGA or personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide skills training and education on daily living skills such as budgeting, performing household chores, personal hygiene, social skills, and meal preparation.
  • Provide case management services such as linking to community resources.
  • Assist with transportation.
  • Observe consumers take medications as prescribed.
  • Monitor and document consumer progress in treatment using designated format and within established time frames.
  • Perform duties in a stress-filled environment to meet deadlines and deal with routine and crisis situations.
  • Provide monitoring, educational and/or crisis handling.
  • Travel to off-campus locations.
