About The Position

The Summer Teacher/Residential Assistant reports to the Director of Upward Bound JPS Central and is part of the Upward Bound JPS Central Department. This role involves supporting Upward Bound participants during the summer component, including tutoring, assisting teachers with interventions, and supervising participants during the residential week. • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
• Tutor summer component Upward Bound participants as needed.
• Assist summer component teachers with providing supplemental and intense interventions to Upward Bound participants.
• Serve as residential assistants during the residential week of the summer component.
• Supervise UB participants during the summer component.
• Attend daily debriefing meetings with the residential group.
• Communicate with participants to encourage the continuation of secondary and post-secondary studies.
