About The Position

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking a Residential Assistant Supervisor to help oversee the daily operations of one of our community homes supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys mentoring employees, solving problems, and creating a positive living environment where individuals can build independence while staff members feel supported and empowered to succeed. This position offers paid on-the-job training, starting at $25.00 per hour, plus evening/weekend shift differentials and overtime opportunities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years of residential experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license with no more than five (5) motor vehicle points.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise employees while fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and adjust schedules based on operational needs.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements associated with residential support services.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day leadership of a residential home while partnering closely with the Residential Program Manager.
  • Maintain consistent operations by providing leadership during assigned shifts and stepping into management responsibilities when needed.
  • Help ensure the home remains welcoming, organized, and person-centered.
  • Provide daily guidance, coaching, and support to Direct Support Professionals.
  • Reinforce agency expectations while promoting teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Assist with onboarding, staff development, scheduling, and shift coverage.
  • Participate in employee feedback, coaching conversations, and performance improvement efforts.
  • Encourage individuals to build life skills, increase independence, and participate in meaningful community experiences.
  • Support implementation of Individual Habilitation Plans and behavioral support strategies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and outside providers to promote positive outcomes.
  • Help individuals achieve personal goals while protecting their dignity, choice, and independence.
  • Review documentation for accuracy and completion.
  • Help coordinate medical appointments, medication systems, and health-related services.
  • Support compliance with agency policies as well as DDD, DHS, DCF, and licensing regulations.
  • Participate in inspections, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and corrective action efforts when necessary.
  • Assist with purchasing household supplies and monitoring program expenses.
  • Complete required reports, documentation, and administrative assignments within established deadlines.
  • Respond effectively to changing priorities while maintaining excellent communication with leadership.
