About The Position

AHRC New York City is seeking to hire multiple Residential Assistant Managers for their Queens ICF and IRA Group Home residences. The Residential Assistant Manager will collaborate with the Residence Manager and other management team members to oversee all aspects of operation for their assigned community residential program. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulations, providing direct supervision to staff, managing daily operations, and contributing to the planning and delivery of individualized resident programs. This position also involves overseeing medical services when assigned, ensuring residents' basic needs are met, and liaising with treatment coordinators to enhance resident quality of life. The role requires attending and completing mandated training and potentially providing training to staff.

Requirements

  • Experience with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities REQUIRED.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the field of developmental and intellectual disabilities and have knowledge of OPWDD regulations.
  • Must be willing to work one day of each weekend.
  • Must have ability to assist in planning, organizing, developing, and implementing program policies and procedures in timely and consistent manner.
  • Ability to deal diplomatically with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public.
  • High school diploma or GED, along with 3 or more years Direct Support Professional experience at a OPWDD certified residence.
  • A valid New York or Tri-State driver's license for more than one year in good standing is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising staff in a residential setting is preferred not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with ensuring ongoing compliance and quality assurance with State and Federal regulations applicable to operation of facility.
  • Provides direct supervision and guidance to direct support employees assigned to residence.
  • Confers with Residence Manager in completing mandated written evaluations of staff and participates in overseeing disciplinary actions.
  • Provides service coverage in accordance with staff scheduling and in cases of staff shortages or emerging resident needs.
  • Assumes responsibility for smooth operations of residence, including adherence to policies and procedures related to house and vehicle maintenance, fire safety, and resident and personnel files.
  • Collaborates with Residence Manager in planning each resident’s individualized program of services and care, ensuring delivery of services that addresses resident's interests, preferences, strengths and capabilities.
  • When assigned to oversee medical services, collaborates with residence clinical staff to monitor direct care activities, including medical records, appointment scheduling, medication administration, and referrals.
  • Ensures each resident’s basic needs are met, including adequate supply of food, clothing, personal hygiene items, and other personal belongings.
  • Serves as liaison with Treatment Coordinator in reviewing quality of active treatment services and expected residential habilitation outcomes.
  • Attends and successfully completes mandated and skills development training courses, as assigned.
  • Provides training to staff at residence, as needed.
