This role is responsible for creating a nurturing and positive learning environment for clients, helping them cope with social, emotional, and physical challenges of daily living to facilitate independent performance. The position involves active work both inside and outside the home, requiring the ability to lift and transfer significant weight and utilize approved protective hold techniques for safety. The Assistant Manager implements Individual Plans of Care, monitors client progress, and documents all interventions. They are also responsible for monitoring medical, physical, and behavioral changes, reporting incidents, administering medication (once certified), and assisting with medical appointments and follow-through on doctor's orders. Meal planning, purchasing, and preparation are also key duties, ensuring dietary plans are followed. Maintaining the appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the house, properties, and vehicles is essential, as is conducting oneself professionally in all interactions. Participation in required training, staff meetings, and maintaining compliance with agency policies and regulatory requirements are mandatory. The role also involves accurate accounting of petty cash and client funds, developing positive community relationships, and assisting the Program Manager with staffing, data sheets, and staff in-servicing. In the absence of the Residential Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the overall running of the residential home. They participate in the Interdisciplinary Team process, assist with program development for clients, and work with consultants to ensure recommended services are adhered to. The Assistant Manager serves as a role model to clients and staff, participates in staff meetings, and provides supervision to staff within the complement. They rotate on-call coverage with the manager to handle staffing issues and emergent problems.
