About The Position

Alcott, a leading nonprofit agency dedicated to providing vital mental health and supportive housing services to low-income adults across Los Angeles County, is seeking a compassionate and dependable Residential Aide to join our ODR Interim Housing team. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • At least one year of experience in mental health, substance abuse treatment, or social services supporting individuals experiencing homelessness.
  • If in recovery from alcohol or substance use, at least one year of continuous sobriety is required.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and consistent under stress or conflict.
  • Strong communication, patience, and supportive presence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and database systems.
  • Strong organizational abilities and teamwork mindset.
  • Valid California Driver’s License, clean driving record, and insurability under agency policy.
  • Successful completion of Live Scan background check.
  • Current CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident needs.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.
  • Assist residents with daily chores, personal care, and program activities to promote independence.
  • Support meal preparation and serving.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all resident interactions.
  • Conduct routine facility rounds to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Maintain sanitary and hazard-free conditions in resident rooms, hallways, laundry areas, and restrooms.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and unusual situations and complete all required documentation.
  • Complete daily logs, end-of-shift reports, and obtain necessary signatures.
  • Document and report incidents, injuries, and other unusual occurrences.
  • Share important updates with oncoming staff and the Program Manager.
  • Answer telephones, take messages, and greet visitors professionally.
  • Assist with class activities, recreation, and events.
  • Monitor and record client self-administration of prescribed medications.
  • Support additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
