About The Position

Alcott, a leading nonprofit agency providing critical mental health and supportive housing services to low-income adults across Los Angeles County, is looking for a compassionate and dependable Residential Aide (Swing Shift) to support residents in our ODR Interim Housing program in South Los Angeles. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in mental health, substance use, or homeless services
  • If in recovery, at least one (1) year of continuous sobriety required
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and professional during conflict or crises
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with documentation systems
  • Valid California Driver’s License, clean driving record, and insurability under agency policy
  • Must pass Live Scan background check

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and professionally to resident requests and needs
  • Support residents in maintaining independence and engagement in daily routines
  • Assist with meal prep, serving, and group activities as needed
  • Encourage and model appropriate behavior in shared living environments
  • Conduct regular safety rounds and monitor resident behavior
  • Respond to emergencies according to protocols
  • Maintain cleanliness of shared areas including hallways, restrooms, and laundry rooms
  • Complete shift documentation, incident reports, and daily logs accurately and on time
  • Answer phones, take messages, and greet visitors
  • Assist with scheduled activities, medication observation, and meetings
  • Communicate clearly with other team members and provide thorough shift handoffs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Manager
