About The Position

Alcott, a leading nonprofit agency dedicated to providing vital mental health and supportive housing services to low-income adults across Los Angeles County, is seeking compassionate and dependable Residential Aides to join our ODR Interim Housing team. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in mental health, substance abuse treatment, social services, or supporting individuals experiencing homelessness is required.
  • If in recovery from alcohol or substance use, at least one (1) year of continuous sobriety is required.
  • Must successfully pass all required background checks, including Live Scan clearance.
  • Valid California Driver’s License, clean driving record, and insurability under agency policy are required if driving is an essential job function.

  • Current CPR certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and professional support to residents while promoting dignity and independence.
  • Assist residents with daily chores, personal care needs, and program participation as appropriate.
  • Support meal preparation, meal service, and recreational or program-related activities.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with residents while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Conduct routine rounds throughout the facility to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with program expectations.
  • Monitor resident rooms, common areas, laundry facilities, and restrooms to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, crises, and unusual incidents while following agency protocols and documentation requirements.
  • Monitor and document client self-administration of prescribed medications in accordance with program procedures.
  • Complete daily logs, incident reports, end-of-shift summaries, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Communicate relevant resident updates, concerns, and incidents to oncoming staff and leadership.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records in compliance with agency standards.
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, and provide professional administrative support as needed.
  • Assist with program operations, class set-up, recreational activities, and special events.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Program Manager to support program success and resident care.
