About The Position

The Residential Aide (RA) ensures the wellbeing and safety of the program’s clients and staff during their shifts. The RA provides crisis intervention as needed to maintain residential safety and security. The RA works in shifts of 8am to 4pm, 4pm to 12am, and 12am-8am. The schedule operates 7 days a week, and all holidays as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to assert oneself.
  • Ability to work with colleagues to solve problems.
  • Must be present in the program site 100% of the time.
  • Occasionally to Frequently expected to de-escalate tense, even hostile, client situations.
  • Must pass comprehensive background check to work in facility with children.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is strongly preferred.
  • Dependable and flexible, with exemplary time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure program policies and procedures are enforced and adhered to by program clients.
  • Build rapport with program clients and engage with them professionally and respectfully.
  • De-escalate tense, even hostile, client situations when necessary.
  • Ensure the safety, security and integrity of all residents and guests, as well as the physical environment of the facility.
  • Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs.
  • Provide excellent customer service and confidentiality.
  • Distribute meals to program clients and help unpack and properly store meals that are delivered to site.
  • Perform light custodial work consisting of cleaning tables, chairs, minor spills, and removal of trash.
  • Communicate with clinical staff on resident behavior and the care of those on the fragile list.
  • Enforce the Residential Code of Conduct and/or House Rules.
  • Participate in advocacy and direct actions to end the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
  • Work occasional overtime and offer flexibility regarding scheduling work time.
  • Ability to work with the homeless migrant population.
  • Maintain a high level of client confidentiality.
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with all levels of management.
