About The Position

Ruby's Place dba Restorative Pathways (RP) is seeking a full-time Residential Advocate for Solara House in Oakland, CA. This non-exempt, in-person position is crucial for the operation of RP's shelter, which serves individuals with a history of sex/labor trafficking, domestic violence, or those at risk of such abuse. The role involves providing direct support to clients, assisting Case Management staff, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the shelter. RP is an innovative nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy, and connection, offering services like emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, and substance recovery. All services are trauma-sensitive, client-centered, low-barrier, and provided at no cost. RP is led by survivors, emphasizing reflection, innovation, and connection, and aims to cultivate a workplace that values the voices of those most impacted by violence.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in social services or enrolled in a similar program at an accredited four year College/University (Experience may be substituted)
  • Experienced in crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, and client advocacy
  • Experienced working in a domestic violence and or homeless setting providing direct services
  • Understanding of the dynamics of abusive relationships and a commitment to preventing violence in the home
  • Knowledgeable of Trauma Informed Care
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, serving diverse populations
  • Certified in the state mandated 40-hour Domestic Violence counselor certification (can be arranged after hiring)
  • Able to lift 25 lbs
  • In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by RP insurance as a driver
  • Able to complete a background check, fingerprinting (Live Scan), and completion of all Community Care Licensing requirement documents
  • Able to meet all licensing requirements of Community Care Licensing
  • Must be located in the greater Bay Area

Responsibilities

  • Monitors assigned area Solara House during shifts
  • Perform telephone screening for potential clients
  • Transport clients when needed
  • Perform general maintenance and cleaning, chore supervision, stocking, and general supply inventory
  • Provide clerical support, including data entry and filing
  • Provide confidential, holistic, client-centered, trauma-sensitive services
  • Greet new residents, provide tours of the facility, and assist with room orientation
  • Assist with general Solara House operations
  • Offer in-person or phone shift coverage as backup for other Adult Residential Programs when needed
  • Complete and submit functional timesheets by the assigned due dates
  • Actively participate in reflective supervision
  • Participate actively in all RP meetings and training sessions
  • Document and maintain all job-related processes and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
