About The Position

Ruby's Place dba Restorative Pathways (RP) is seeking a full-time Residential Advocate for Solara House in Oakland, CA. This non-exempt, in-person position is crucial for the operation of RP's shelter, which serves individuals with a history of sex/labor trafficking, domestic violence, or those at risk of such abuse. The role involves providing direct support to clients and assisting Case Management staff, all within a trauma-sensitive and client-centered framework. RP is an innovative nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic violence, human trafficking, and violent crime through hope, advocacy, and connection, offering services like emergency shelter, transitional housing, rental subsidies, mental health services, and substance recovery. The organization is survivor-led, emphasizing reflection, innovation, and connection, and aims to cultivate a workplace that values the voices of those most impacted by violence.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in social services or enrolled in a similar program at an accredited four year College/University (Experience may be substituted for the education requirement).
Experienced in crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, and client advocacy.
Experienced working in a domestic violence and or homeless setting providing direct services.
Understanding of the dynamics of abusive relationships and a commitment to preventing violence in the home.
Knowledgeable of Trauma Informed Care as well as an understanding of, and sensitivity to, serving diverse populations.
Certified in the state mandated 40-hour Domestic Violence counselor certification (Can be arranged after hiring).
Able to lift 25 lbs.
In possession of a valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and be approved by RP insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles.
Able to complete a background check, fingerprinting (Live Scan), and completion of all Community Care Licensing requirement documents.
Able to meet all licensing requirements of Community Care Licensing.
Strong commitment to preventing interpersonal violence.
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong techniques for relationship building.
Belief that people should determine their own path towards healing, and have an orientation towards survivor-centered services.
Go-getter who enjoys fast paced environments.
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
Adept at time management and highly organized with a proven ability to ensure deadlines can be met, plan, organize and execute.

Applicants must be located in the greater Bay Area.

Responsibilities

Provide necessary shift coverage for the overall operation and function of RP shelter for individuals with a reported history of sex/labor trafficking, domestic violence, or who are at risk of such abuse.
Provide support and assistance to Case Management staff.
Monitors assigned area Solara House during shifts.
Perform telephone screening for potential clients.
Transport clients when needed.
Perform general maintenance and cleaning, chore supervision, stocking, and general supply inventory.
Provide clerical support, including data entry and filing.
Provide confidential, holistic, client-centered, trauma-sensitive services.
Greet new residents, provide tours of the facility, and assist with room orientation.
Assist with general Solara House operations.
Offer in-person or phone shift coverage as backup for other Adult Residential Programs when needed.
Complete and submit functional timesheets by the assigned due dates, adhering to the specified time allocations.
Actively participate in reflective supervision.
Participate actively in all RP meetings and training sessions.
Document and maintain all job-related processes and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
