Casual hours- Available flexible hours- Monday through Sunday As a casual employee we require that you maintain active availability. Our policy is that you work at least a minimum of 16 hours per month to stay active as an AIMED employee. Residential Advisors (Direct Care Support Professional (DSP) are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment which fosters growth and rehabilitation and facilitates the development of mutual aid/self-help skills among individuals. Staff’s primary role is to provide the appropriate and effective behavioral supports tailored to the needs and desires of each individual to enable each to live as independently as possible. Residential Advisors are expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and be able to utilize the appropriate comprehensive crisis management training, psychiatric, medical back up services and/or the crisis team involved with the individual. The Residential Advisors play a critical role in the overall success of our Residential Services and are looked at as “natural role models.”

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • One year of Human Service work experience.
  • At least 2-3 years working with autism and intellectual disability, and mental health.
  • Medication administration certification.
  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • Autonomy – ability to work without immediate supervision.
  • Interpersonal sensitivity (objective awareness of others, tactful interaction, ease in establishing limits).
  • Reliability and flexibility.
  • Insight and the ability to articulate it.
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a van.
  • Crisis intervention training (i.e., nonviolent crisis intervention, positive approach, etc.).
  • CPR, First Aid and AED.
  • Must clear ACT 33, 34 and 73 (criminal clearance).

Responsibilities

  • Providing transportation in the community, jobs, fun social activities, doctor’s appointment.
  • Assisting with showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility, and ensuring the participant maintains good healthy hygiene.
  • Helping and teaching daily life skills according to their goals to support independence.
  • Managing and administering medications.
  • Performing light housekeeping (laundry, vacuuming, dishes), meal preparation, and grocery shopping, and ensuring walkways are cleared/snow/leaves.
  • Administering and documenting medication according to the regulations.
  • Reporting incidents or neglect to the supervisor.
  • Following the participants’ individual service plan (ISP).
  • Tracking and documenting the participant’s progress.
  • Attending mandatory training and site team meetings.
