Residential Advisor
About The Position
MTC operates the Edison Job Corps Center in Edison, New Jersey, where staff provide services to local youth. The Residential Advisor monitors students living on residential floors to ensure compliance with Center rules and regulations and fosters an atmosphere conducive to character development by encouraging favorable behavior patterns. The position facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance when students experience injury, illness, trauma, or emotional distress, and documents student activity and incidents. This is a full-time, second-shift position with 8-hour shifts from 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The listed wage is $18.00 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Nice To Haves
- One year of related experience working with youth is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Patrol and monitor dormitories to ensure student safety and proper behavior.
- Assist with recreational activities for students on and off center.
- Direct students and assist with cleanup and maintenance of the dormitory.
- Promote and support positive customer service throughout the facility.
- Participate in the student employability program and related activities.
- Document student activity and incidents.
- Facilitate prompt and appropriate assistance in the event of student injury, illness, traumatic experience, or emotional distress.
- Encourage favorable behavior patterns and foster an atmosphere conducive to character development.
