About The Position

Provides supervision, guidance, and support to students within the residential living environment. Maintains a safe, clean, structured, and orderly dormitory while promoting student accountability, positive behavior, independent living skills, and personal development.

Requirements

  • Ability to relate to and work with disadvantaged youth
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to meet frequent deadlines and handle stressful, hectic situations without loss of efficiency and composure
  • Proficient in the use of computer software such as MSWord, Excel and Outlook, etc.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Residential experience in a group home or college dormitory setting

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate accountability of students assigned to the dormitory and promptly reports absences or discrepancies.
  • Provides counseling and guidance to students regarding behavior, attitude, personal responsibility, conflict resolution, and interpersonal relationships.
  • Monitors student activities and enforces Center policies to maintain a safe, structured, and supportive residential environment.
  • Directs and supervises students during dormitory cleaning, room inspections, maintenance activities, and upkeep of common areas.
  • Provides students with training in independent living, leadership, decision-making, time-management, hygiene, and communication skills.
  • Reinforces positive behavior and holds students accountable for conduct that does not meet Center expectations.
  • Accurately completes shift logs, accountability records, incident reports, and required entries in the Center Information System and student folders.
  • Promptly reports unusual, serious, or critical incidents to the appropriate supervisor and completes all required documentation.
  • Collaborates with the Dorm Supervisor, counselors, and other team members to provide effective case-management services and communicate relevant shift information.
  • Serves as an advisor to the Student Peer Court and performs other assigned duties that support the Independent Living department and the Center’s mission.
