This position is an on-call position, and work is on an as needed basis. The Residential Advisor is responsible for a paraprofessional level of student support and performance duties necessary for an orderly operation of the Dormitory Program. Must be available to work any shift and day of the week due to a 24/7 operation. The role provides substitute and/or call-in services of a residential advisor. Responsibilities include ensuring orderly, clean living conditions by scheduling and supervising clean-up and submitting repair requests. The advisor provides supervision for the cafeteria, laundry, special activities (on and off Center), and other areas of the program as scheduled or assigned. They identify and assist students in handling special problems and conduct dormitory meetings. Maintaining communication with students' counselors, instructors, and other staff members is crucial. The advisor attends staff in-service training sessions and other training or meetings as directed. They establish a close working relationship with students, dealing justly and impartially regardless of their ability, achievement, or background, and work to motivate them toward goals. The role initiates and directs dormitory programs, utilizing Center services and activities to benefit students. The advisor follows all non-health standing orders and transports students to various activities and events as needed. Maintaining an environment wherein students and staff feel safe and secure is a key responsibility. The advisor maintains logbooks as directed and authorized that show activity during shift, and ensures case notes and other entries in CIS are accurate and up-to-date. When a student is absent for 24 hours, their personal property/items are secured and logged. Time sheets are submitted according to the Residential Living Supervisor. The advisor assists and trains student leaders per center policy and participates in intramural programs. They ensure students meet their evening schedule and provide support for safety and security on center. Ensuring that buildings are secure and clean at all times, conducting periodic checks, and maintaining order and discipline in their assigned dorm are also part of the role. The advisor works towards meeting performance center goals and follows the CDSS plan and Code of Conduct system daily. Compliance with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) Serrato policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures is required. Adherence to required property control policies and procedures, maintaining good housekeeping in all areas, and complying with safety practices are essential. The advisor models, mentors, and monitors appropriate Career Success Standards, helping students become more employable through continuous reinforcement. Participation in PRH-mandated staff training is required, and failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Performs other duties as assigned.
