26-1580 Resident Technician/AMHS
About The Position
CMHA-CEI is seeking a Resident Technician for Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS) to assist in the personal care and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in a residential or supported independent living setting. The role involves implementing skill acquisition, understanding stages of change and substance use disorders, and promoting resident independence. The technician will act as a resource and referral for residents, provide transportation, support symptom management, train residents in daily living skills (medication management, personal care, communication, cleaning, meal preparation, laundry), de-escalation, documentation, and community participation. The position also requires attending mandatory staff meetings and in-service training.
Requirements
- Possession of a High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must receive and maintain certification in Department of Community Health Group Home Skill Training (training provided and paid by CMHA-CEI).
- Ability to understand written instructions.
- Ability to accurately and effectively communicate both in writing and verbally.
- Ability to read and follow medication charts.
- Provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Physically able to do lifting and transferring of physically impaired consumers according to approved agency policies/procedures.
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Access to reliable transportation for job-related use.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the personal care and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Implement skill acquisition and understand stages of change and substance use disorders.
- Assist individuals to be as independent as possible.
- Act as a resource and referral for residents to meet their needs.
- Provide transportation with agency vehicle or personal vehicle to and from activities, appointments, and community inclusionary activities.
- Support mental illness symptoms management.
- Train and assist residents in daily living skills such as medication management, personal care, interpersonal communication skills, cleaning, meal preparation, and laundry.
- Provide de-escalation skills training.
- Maintain required documentation.
- Assist residents in participation in community activities.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
