About The Position

Sound is growing and we are hiring a resident specialist in Burien, WA! Sound is one of King County’s most comprehensive providers of quality mental health and addiction treatment services, supporting our area’s most vulnerable populations. The Resident Specialist works with adult clients who have a chronic mental illness at The Willows Apartments in Burien. They support and provide direct therapeutic services. They also provide services to adults who require additional supervision in lieu of hospitalization, or to maintain success at home, in school, or in social activities. The Resident Specialist provides on-site services at The Willows during their scheduled work hours.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in human services or with special needs population preferred, if educational level is high school or GED.
  • Must be able to obtain a Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor credential within the first 60 days of hire.
  • Must be willing to complete First Aid/CPR training.
  • Washington State driver's license and insurable driving record required.
  • Must successfully pass criminal background checks.
  • Strong commitment to working with individuals with a mental illness/personal care need.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to be flexible and work varied hours.
  • Willingness to work as a team.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and skills quickly.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to manage crisis effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safety and security checks of entries, households, and common area every two hours.
  • Monitor guest visiting in the common areas.
  • Provide telephone assistance (police, fire, aid) to residents if indicated to ensure safety.
  • Performs administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Handles all consumer information and clinic activities in a confidential manner in keeping with agency policies.
  • Keeps supervisors informed of daily activities and any potential problems in a timely manner.
  • Follows all of the agency's safety procedures.
  • Adhering to the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
  • Understand recovery concepts in behavioral health.
  • Light housekeeping.
  • Apply recovery concepts, as appropriate to my work at Sound.
  • Synthesize and demonstrate recovery concepts in my work at Sound.
