About The Position

As a Resident Support Specialist, you’ll help make that a reality by creating a positive, trauma-informed environment where youth can heal, grow, and thrive. TGTHR believes every young person, ages 12–24, deserves safety, support, and respect. Our mission is to end youth homelessness by providing a full spectrum of support — from immediate resources to safe housing and long-term stability. We empower young people to amplify their voices, celebrate their growth, and build thriving futures. Together, we’re creating a community where every young person has the opportunity to succeed. Nest56 is a 56-unit supportive housing complex for young people between the ages of 18-24 in which TGTHR is the contracted service provider. While living here, residents are offered employment and education assistance, support and inclusivity groups, counseling services, life-skills development, mental and physical wellness support, housing navigation when they leave, and an array of individual and group activities.

Requirements

Experience working with youth or vulnerable populations.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field
Work experience in lieu of a degree will be accepted.
Must be able to work flexible shifts.
Must be 21+ years of age.
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a willingness to learn about the intersections of youth homelessness, race, gender, and identity.
Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with computerized office systems (e.g., Google Suite to include Gmail and Google Docs, phone systems).
Conflict mediation and resolution skills.
Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
Trauma-responsive, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive approach.
Creativity, flexibility, and resilience under pressure.
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., move up and down stairs, and sit for long periods while performing typing duties.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual English/Spanish language skills.
At least one year of paid or volunteer experience in a related field.
Experience with Salesforce.

Responsibilities

Foster a safe, stable, and empowering living space.
Provide day-to-day engagement and emotional support to residents.
Help youth build independent living skills including but not limited to budgeting, cooking, and personal care.
Use crisis-intervention and de-escalation skills when needed.
Facilitate life-skills groups and community activities that promote connection and accountability.
Complete and maintain accurate documentation daily in SalesForce and other data bases as needed.
Collaborate with the broader supportive services team.
Drive residents to appointments and community resources.
Support TGTHR’s mission of ending youth homelessness through compassion, structure, and teamwork.
