About The Position

A Resident Services Director (RSD) is a multifaceted leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations and well-being of residents in our memory care community. This person acts as a crucial link between the residents, their families, and the memory care staff, ensuring a high quality of life and compliance with all regulations.

Requirements

  • Education/certifications in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field.
  • Managerial experience in a clinical setting.
  • Experience in a senior living or long-term care setting.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with residents, families, and staff.
  • A compassionate and empathetic demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring personalized service plans for residents, including conducting assessments, coordinating with healthcare professionals, and ensuring residents receive necessary services.
  • Creating a resident-centered approach to the planning and delivery of services, supporting residents’ rights to participate in decision-making and treating residents with dignity and respect.
  • Accurate completion and use of level of care determination tools to ensure residents receive the care and services they require and desire.
  • Performing assessments on health, functional, and psychosocial status of residents.
  • Participating in the development of individualized service plans.
  • Proactively managing care and services for each resident, maximizing the resident’s opportunity to remain in the assisted living environment.
  • Problem-solving as part of the management team to case manage and meet the needs of residents.
  • Assessing or evaluating residents with reported changes of condition.
  • Providing team member direction, service planning, and coordination of care to meet residents’ changing needs.
  • Collaborating with the management team on the move-in of prospective residents, considering the needs of the prospective resident, current community acuity, and staffing levels.
  • Providing in-person pre-move-in assessments, if necessary.
  • Ensuring resident care needs are met by coordinating services with other professionals.
  • Partnering in the investigation and root cause analysis of incidents.
  • Collaborating with the management team on the development and implementation of appropriate interventions.
  • Overseeing the documentation and communication of resident care and services.
  • Ensuring resident records are completed in a timely manner and maintained according to company policies and state regulations.
  • Managing the health services team, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff.
  • Providing on-call support and phone triage for team members’ questions regarding resident care.
  • Providing floor coverage when needed.
  • Providing oversight to the staffing schedule.
  • Fostering a positive and engaging environment.
  • Designing and implementing programs that promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents.
  • Maintaining open communication with residents and their families, addressing concerns, resolving conflicts, and providing updates on resident status.
  • Providing education and support to residents and families.
  • Acting as an advocate for residents, ensuring their needs and rights are protected.
  • Ensuring the facility adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Managing budgets, overseeing medication programs, and maintaining detailed resident records.
  • Supervising and managing the entire health services staff either directly or indirectly.
