About The Position

The Resident Services Coordinator serves as Compass's onsite representative at an assigned affordable housing community and is responsible for providing consistent, high-quality Resident Services to residents of all ages, with a significant focus on operating the community's After-School Program. The Resident Services Coordinator builds relationships with residents and families, learns the needs and interests of the community, connects residents with appropriate resources and referrals, and develops programs and activities that respond to the population being served. A central responsibility of this position is creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming, structured, and engaging After-School Program for children and youth. The coordinator provides homework and academic support, plans enrichment and recreational activities, builds positive relationships with participating youth and their families, and creates an environment where children feel supported and encouraged to learn and grow. The Resident Services Coordinator reports to the Manager of Resident Services and is responsible for meeting all property-specific service, program, documentation, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated successful experience working directly with children or youth is required.
  • Ability to confidently lead and engage groups of children while maintaining a safe, structured, positive, and welcoming environment.
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate homework assistance, enrichment activities, and recreational programming.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents and guardians, residents, property management, and community partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance After-School Program responsibilities with broader Resident Services responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, identify community needs, and follow through on responsibilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in after-school programs, education, youth development, childcare, recreation, tutoring, camps, or similar settings strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Resident Services, community engagement, social services, or affordable housing is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate the property's After-School Program on its established schedule.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, structured, and inclusive environment for participating children and youth.
  • Provide homework assistance and academic support appropriate to the ages and needs of participating students.
  • Plan and facilitate enrichment, educational, creative, recreational, and social activities.
  • Develop an appropriate program routine that provides structure while keeping children engaged.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with participating children and their parents or guardians.
  • Encourage consistent participation and actively engage families in the After-School Program.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision, professional boundaries, and established safety procedures at all times.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation, sign-in sheets, and other required After-School Program records.
  • Communicate program needs, concerns, incidents, or opportunities to the Manager of Resident Services in a timely manner.
  • Help identify materials, supplies, educational resources, and activities that will strengthen the program.
  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for Compass Resident Services at the assigned community.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with residents and maintain an approachable and welcoming Resident Services presence.
  • Provide one-to-one assistance to residents seeking information, resources, or support.
  • Connect residents with appropriate community organizations, public resources, educational opportunities, and service providers.
  • Provide referrals and follow-up assistance when appropriate while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Identify recurring resident and family needs and communicate emerging issues, resource gaps, or opportunities to the Manager of Resident Services.
  • Plan and implement programs, workshops, activities, and events for the broader resident population in addition to the After-School Program.
  • Create opportunities that encourage resident participation, education, connection, and community engagement.
  • Promote programs and events to residents and actively work to increase participation.
  • Gather resident feedback and use it to improve existing programming and identify new opportunities.
  • Participate in Compass-wide initiatives and annual or seasonal programs offered across multiple communities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, nonprofits, public agencies, libraries, educational organizations, service providers, and other community resources.
  • Identify resources and opportunities that can support children, families, and the broader resident population.
  • Coordinate with community partners to bring appropriate programs, workshops, resources, and activities onsite when possible.
  • Maintain current knowledge of resources available within the surrounding community.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with onsite property management.
  • Communicate regularly with property management regarding Resident Services programming, events, schedules, and appropriate resident-service matters.
  • Work collaboratively to support the community while maintaining clear boundaries between Compass Resident Services and property management responsibilities.
  • Bring concerns or issues requiring additional support to the Manager of Resident Services.
  • Maintain the required onsite schedule and provide Resident Services and After-School Programming in accordance with Compass's contractual and property-specific requirements.
  • Complete required program, event, resident-contact, attendance, and service documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain organized records and files in accordance with Compass procedures.
  • Track participation and other required Resident Services and After-School Program information.
  • Submit required reports and documentation according to established deadlines.
  • Participate in meetings, training, supervision, and professional development as required.
  • Communicate schedule changes, absences, property concerns, or circumstances that may affect service delivery promptly to the Manager of Resident Services.
