About The Position

ProHealth Physicians, part of the Optum family, is seeking a PGY2/PGY3 Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Resident Physician for their Primary Care Physician Pathways Program in Bristol, CT. This program offers mentorship from an experienced physician leader to support the transition from residency to a full-time primary care role. Participants will have a minimal time commitment (3 hours/month) and receive a bi-weekly salary. The program aims to enhance experience during the final year of residency, reduce the burden of job searching, and provide insights into value-based care models and population health initiatives. Participants will gain exposure to the Quadruple Aim framework (Affordability, Quality Outcomes, Patient Satisfaction, and Clinician Well-Being) and customize their experience through on-site and virtual exposure to primary care at ProHealth Physicians facilities. The program emphasizes learning about the organization and practice, ensuring a personalized and valuable development experience in primary care, value-based care, team-based care, and outpatient patient-centered care. Requirements

  • M.D. or D.O.
  • Must be transitioning into final year of residency or fellowship, or early into final year - PGY2 Resident Physician transitioning into PGY3 Resident Physician.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred candidate will be a local physician resident in Connecticut, but not required.
  • Candidates who plan to practice primary care in Connecticut post-residency are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Mentorship from an experienced physician leader at ProHealth Physicians to support transition from training into a full-time primary care physician role.
  • Consistent check-ins via phone, virtually, or in-person with a minimal time-commitment (3 hr/mo).
  • Enhancement of experience throughout final months of residency while eliminating the burden of job searching and finding the right place to start a career in primary care.
  • Gain perspective on how to effectively operate and thrive within a value-based care model in a system that is driving population health initiatives.
  • Grow exposure to the Quadruple Aim framework and various understandings of care settings offered at Optum: (Affordability, Quality Outcomes, Patient Satisfaction, and Clinician Well-Being).
  • Customize experience through an individualized program completed at ProHealth Physicians facilities and/or virtually with deep exposure into primary care and working in the practice environment.
  • Learn about the organization and practice to ensure a personalized and valuable experience for overall development and understanding of primary care, value-based care, team-based care, and outpatient patient-centered care.
