About The Position

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Full Time Residential Monitor position for the Birmingham Command Women's Unit located in Birmingham, AL. Paying $12.77 an hour. This position is responsible for accepting and processing residents staying in the housing unit/shelter; monitoring the activity of residents on an assigned shift ensuring safety, security and compliance to house rules; maintaining accurate and complete records and logs containing pertinent information; and ensuring that the lodge/shelter is maintained in a neat and proper order.

Requirements

• Knowledge of general office procedures and practices
• Knowledge of basic record keeping practices and procedures
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients in order to control, lead, and motivate behavior
• Ability to work with the public encompassing all types of behaviors
• Ability to work independently and with limited supervision while enforcing established policies and procedures
• Ability to meet attendance requirements
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language
• Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action
• Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis
• Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid State Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

• One year experience performing security or social service work preferred
