About The Position

The Resident Lifestyle Assistant at Westover plays an important role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by assisting with the planning, coordination, and implementation of engaging recreational, social, educational, and wellness activities. Working closely with the Director of Resident Lifestyle and Resident Lifestyle Coordinator, this position helps create meaningful experiences that promote independence, creativity, social connection, and overall well-being. The Resident Lifestyle Assistant encourages resident participation, supervises activities and community outings, and helps foster a welcoming, vibrant environment where every resident feels valued and engaged.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Knowledge of safe vehicle operation when transporting residents.

Nice To Haves

  • Up to one year of experience leading or assisting with recreational, social, or enrichment activities preferred.
  • Experience working with older adults or in senior living, healthcare, or recreation programs is preferred.
  • Passion for creating meaningful experiences that enhance residents' quality of life.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents, families, visitors, and team members.
  • Compassionate, patient, creative, and energetic personality.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and leading a variety of recreational, educational, social, spiritual, and wellness programs for residents.
  • Encourage resident participation in group and individual activities that promote physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being.
  • Lead games, crafts, hobbies, exercise programs, music, entertainment, and other enrichment activities.
  • Encourage creative expression and provide opportunities for residents to share their talents and interests.
  • Support residents during activities by providing encouragement and individualized assistance as needed.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating special events, holiday celebrations, and themed activities.
  • Prepare activity areas, equipment, decorations, and supplies for programs and events.
  • Supervise and safely transport residents during community outings and scheduled activities.
  • Assist with evening and weekend programs as needed.
  • Promote resident independence while providing assistance appropriate to each individual's abilities.
  • Encourage participation in religious and spiritual opportunities, including worship services, visits from local faith leaders, and other meaningful activities.
  • Support intellectual and lifelong learning opportunities through books, movies, lectures, cultural events, and community resources.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, and team members while maintaining resident dignity and confidentiality.
  • Assist with maintaining activity calendars and resident participation records.
  • Complete resident activity documentation and charting as assigned.
  • Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and inventory; assist with ordering and organizing materials.
  • Ensure activity spaces remain clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, infection prevention guidelines, and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
