About The Position

This position is for a Resident Engineer/Chief Construction Inspector for the I-81 Design/Build project, Phase I. The project involves improvements to a new section of I-81 (formerly I-481) between I-690 and the New York State Thruway (I-90), reconstruction and widening of this section, reconstruction of the northern and southern I-81/I-481 interchanges, and improvements to Interchange 3 including the Lyndon Corners intersection. The construction cost is estimated at over $300 million.

Requirements

Experience with I-81 Viaduct Design / Build project, Phase I.
Experience with improvements to I-81 (former I-481) between I-690 and New York State Thruway (I-90).
Experience with reconstruction and widening of I-81 (former I-481).
Experience with reconstruction of I-81/I-481 northern interchange.
Experience with reconstruction of I-81/I-481 southern interchange.
Experience with improvements to Interchange 3 including Lyndon Corners intersection.
Proficiency in using the Authority’s Site Manager & EBO for record keeping and reporting.

Responsibilities

Inspect all construction materials to ensure compliance with Plans and Specifications.
Inspect all construction activities to ensure quality of workmanship.
Maintain daily records of worker numbers and classifications using the Authority’s Site Manager & EBO.
Prepare daily reports of construction and engineering field work using the Authority’s Site Manager & EBO.
Prepare and forward weekly quantity summaries for each contract item in the appropriate format.
Maintain records of running totals of quantities and costs during construction.
Maintain daily records of equipment type and size used in construction operations using the Authority’s Site Manager & EBO.
Review traffic protection procedures.
Review and coordinate submittals as required by Plans and Specifications.
Attend meetings or conferences as directed by the Authority.
Perform tests required to ensure material compliance with Plans and Specifications.
