About The Position

JBC Associates, Inc. is seeking a Resident Engineer experienced in General Construction of large complex facilities to support the City of Philadelphia, Department of Aviation, Capital Development Group in delivering improvement projects at Philadelphia International Airport. The Resident Engineer will coordinate and directly observe the contractor’s work on a day-by-day basis, taking a leadership role to administer the construction contract on behalf of the owner. The goal is to ensure the contractor completes the full scope of work according to contract plans and specifications, maintaining the required standard of quality, contract value, and within the specified contract time. The successful candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, collaborate effectively with team members, and thrive in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant construction experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders on the project.
  • Must be highly organized, attentive to details and have the ability to multitask.
  • Requires ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, and the ability to walk long distances, including up and down stairs.
  • This position requires a background check.
  • Sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • Occasional night work may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Aviation experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of project management software (e-Builder and Procure) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret detailed design/construction drawings and develop a clear understanding of project scope.
  • Develop and manage project documentation and reporting, and communicate with project staff, designers and contractors.
  • Day-to-day project monitoring and communications.
  • Facilitate meetings with contractors.
  • Review and track construction contracts, construction schedules and costs.
  • Review and approve contractor payment applications.
  • Review, negotiate and process change orders including costs and time.
  • Work with the project team to avoid or minimize project risks due to potential issues, change orders, etc. and resolve issues in a timely and effective manner by providing solutions and guidance and reporting any impacts to management.
  • Assist in inspections, punchlists, and reviews by Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
