Clark Dietz is seeking a Resident Engineer to work in our Northern Illinois Construction Team. This position will provide construction phase engineering services to the IL Tollway and IDOT for transportation infrastructure projects (roads, highways, bridges and related facilities). This position may be based out of our Oakbrook Terrace office but will involve travelling to local project sites and working extended hours as needed.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and PE license are required.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience providing construction phase services on IL Tollway or IDOT projects is required.
  • Familiarity with IL Tollway materials and documentation procedures and current IDOT documentation certificate is required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (especially Word and Excel) for reporting is required.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to maintain detailed daily logs and prepare project reports and submittals.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to local project sites and work extended hours as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with e-Builder/Trimble, Primavera, CMMS, CEPS, Fieldsys, MISTIC, and I-MIRS is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the project owner and provides resident engineering services throughout construction.
  • Directs and oversees inspectors and construction staff to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Observes and inspects critical construction elements and verifies work meets project requirements.
  • Interprets plans and specifications, calculates quantities, verifies measurements and layouts, and prepares monthly pay estimates.
  • Maintains project documentation, daily construction reports, project files, RFIs, and submittmits.
  • Assists with preparing reports, plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications.
  • Collaborates with clients, contractors, sub-consultants, the public, and officials to address inquiries, resolve issues, and perform other assigned duties.
