Resident Engineer - Network Testing

About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Resident Engineer - Network Testing to embed with our client's engineering team. This role is responsible for executing End-to-End (E2E) testing and Health-Check (HC) monitoring routines, and for troubleshooting and debugging failures identified during validation, in order to meet the customer's testing plan targets. This role requires a proactive individual who can assist with technical analysis of identified issues, coordinate and engage the necessary stakeholders to ensure faster resolution, and document and follow up on reported incidents from start to finish. This is not just a support role; it is a strategic forward-deployed engineering position. You will be the "face" of B-Yond at the client site, directly influencing how a Tier-1 operator optimizes their network for the future. You will have the freedom to build your own automations and the opportunity to spot and shape new business deals from the ground up.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of End-to-End (E2E) network flows in 4G LTE, 5G SA and NSA.
  • Ideally deep understand of both RAN and Core networks.
  • Proficiency in analysing End-to-End call flow: Attach, PDU establishment, EPS FB, VoNR, VoLTE, VoWIFI procedures.
  • Proficiency in analysing protocols: S1AP, NGAP, GTP-C/U, SIP, RTP, Diameter, IPSec, ePDG.
  • Expert-level skills in Wireshark or similar packet analysis tools.
  • Basic familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized network functions (NFs) is relevant to this engagement, as the network functions in scope may run on containerized/K8s infrastructure.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders in a way that builds confidence and authority.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to "listen for business" — identifying up-sell opportunities without being pushy.
  • Experience working in multi-vendor environments, capable of navigating political sensitivities while remaining objective and data-driven.
  • Self-starter who can define their own daily agenda and drive value without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform health checks by running Automation scripts and analyzing end-to-end call flow results using packet captures (PCAP) to determine the root cause of the failure.
  • Perform a set of use cases (using real UEs and automation scripts) to validate new features and network functionalities prior to launch in the commercial network.
  • Execute test cases such as handover (Idle, Connected, interworking) and SMS over NAS using real UEs.
  • Configure the mobile device according to the requirements of each scenario.
  • Deep dive into signaling protocols (S1AP, NGAP, GTP-C/U, SIP, RTP, Diameter, IPSec, ePDG).
  • Actively coordinate and support troubleshooting efforts to accelerate root cause analysis and enable rapid resolution.
  • Maintain proper documentation in the ticketing system to provide evidence of validations performed per use case.
