About The Position

Join Ramboll's Water US Construction Management Division as an Electrical Resident Engineer, overseeing complex construction projects from inception to completion. This role requires applying standard construction techniques, procedures, and criteria, with opportunities for independent judgment in design adaptations and modifications. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, ensuring technical components meet contract requirements and overseeing construction personnel to adhere to specifications. The position involves reviewing design documents, performing engineering calculations, assisting in change management, preparing cash flow analyses, monitoring contractor progress, reviewing payment requests, and assisting in commissioning activities for electrical systems and equipment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BEng/BSc) or related disciplines, OR Associate’s degree or technical school certification in electrical or other relevant technical curriculum, and 4+ years of qualifying engineering experience working in the engineering/design field.
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills; build and maintain collaborative relationships with all stakeholders (client, contractor, and design disciplines).
General understanding of electrical regulations, standards, and codes.
General understanding of electrical systems including generators, power supply/distribution, UPS, MCC, VFD, OIT/HMI, SCADA, PLC, RTU, DCS, LPS, SPD, grounding, instrumentation, communications, and security.
Valid driver’s license and availability for up to 100% travel (mostly day trips to sites).
Electrical field education and aptitude.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate.

Nice To Haves

Advanced postgraduate degree.
Licensed Professional Engineer (preferred).
Municipal and State Agency experience.
CCM, USACE CQM, CCCA, NICET certifications.

Responsibilities

Utilize knowledge acquired through engineering or construction management degree to analyze the engineering concepts of a project.
Ensure that the technical components meet the engineering requirements of the contract documents.
Oversee construction personnel to ensure construction procedures, methods, and materials follow those specified in the contract documents.
Direct Construction Superintendents, Project Managers, Foreman, etc. to comply with contract documents and report non-conformances throughout the duration of a project.
Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, submittals, RFI responses, change management, and other pertinent documentation.
Assist in coordination and constructability review of design phase submittals.
Perform engineering calculations throughout the duration of the project to determine requirements such as pump performance, concrete mechanics, pipeline hydraulics, and electrical adequacy.
Assist Design Engineer in developing conceptual change management modifications and scope.
Prepare cash flow calculations from a critical path schedule and schedule of values for the project owner to budget total project cost.
Observe and monitor contractor progress and scheduled completion through daily reporting and digital photo documentation.
Review contractor payment request estimates for accuracy.
Assist in commissioning activities for equipment and electrical systems.
Oversee site-specific commissioning plans and develop/maintain logs and checklists.
Witness and document performance and startup testing.
