About The Position

We are seeking a passionate Resident Engagement Specialist to join our dynamic team! This pivotal role is all about fostering an engaging and creative atmosphere within Sonora’s Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, and Memory Support communities. As our Resident Engagement Specialist, you will have the opportunity to facilitate enriching activities for residents, embodying our Culture of Creativity. You will implement evidence-based practices for both group and one-on-one engagement, leveraging diverse mediums such as music, movement, theater, visual arts, nature, writing, storytelling, culinary arts, and sensory experiences. Your role will be instrumental in creating meaningful celebrations of holidays and rituals, all while maintaining a rich and consistent daily routine. This position is part-time, hourly, and located on-site at Splendido at Rancho Vistoso (13500 N Rancho Vistoso Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85755). Weekends and flexible scheduling required for special events.

Requirements

  • College Degree in Recreation, Arts/Humanities, Hospitality, Psychology, Education, Geriatrics or related field, OR 1+ years related experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent customer service.
  • Collaborative, welcoming, positive attitude and enthusiasm for engaging older adults.
  • Self-initiator requiring minimum supervision.
  • Ability to use or learn a variety of tech-based services and platforms; e. Microsoft Outlook, Zoom, YouTube, resident facing portals, and A/V set-ups.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with residents who have varied physical, cognitive, and emotional needs, ensuring each interaction is purposeful and fulfilling.
  • Build personal connections one-on-one, supporting resident participation in community events, outings, and more.
  • Deliver programs grounded in the Creating My Possibilities framework for residents living with cognitive impairments, utilizing best practices in environmental setup, group dynamics, and strengths-based program design.
  • Play a key role in integrating volunteers into Sonora’s programs.
  • Participate in resident interviews and care planning processes to ensure individual preferences and wellness goals are woven into daily life.
  • Develop new program ideas and prepare upcoming experiences that encourage active participation.
  • Assist in creating engaging communication materials that resonate with residents.
  • Build strong relationships with families and facilitate their involvement in special initiatives, family visits, and community events.
  • Prepare amenity spaces for meaningful group and one-on-one experiences and ensure that the environment remains welcoming and uplifting.
  • Create smooth transitions before and after scheduled programs to maintain a therapeutic atmosphere.
  • Uphold the dignity and quality of holiday decorations, aligning with Mather guidelines.
  • Identify areas for enhancement, share solutions, and participate in quality assurance initiatives.
