About The Position

Pelican Landing is seeking an Assisted Living Resident Caregiver to join its Resident Care team. The caregiver provides residents’ day-to-day care in a sensitive, professional, and effective manner and collaborates with the dining and community program teams to support quality care. The position involves assisting with personal care and activities of daily living, housekeeping and laundry, helping residents attend programs, responding to emergencies, and following resident-care and infection-control protocols. The caregiver is expected to protect residents’ confidentiality and rights and to report changes in condition, accidents, and incidents promptly.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, team members, residents, family members, vendors, referral sources, and outside contacts.
• Ability to make independent decisions.
• Ability to communicate in a warm, friendly, and caring manner.
• Passion for working with and around senior citizens.
• Knowledge of customer-service principles and practices.
• Ability to stand or walk for 75% of the day.
• Ability to concentrate with frequent interruptions and work under stress, including in emergency situations.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, pull, push, and grasp.
• Ability to talk and hear effectively to convey messages, instructions, and information to residents and team members.
• Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Nursing Assistant or Home Health Aid credential.
• Medication Assistance license or certificate, if applicable and as needed under state regulations.
• CPR certification.
• First Aid certification.
• Experience working with seniors.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care and activities of daily living as assigned and requested.
• Perform assigned daily housekeeping tasks according to established procedures and standards.
• Review and participate in 24 Hour Reports, Daily Logs, Shift Cross-over Reports, and verbal reports as needed.
• Assist residents to and from scheduled programs.
• Promote residents’ personal choices, independence, and spiritual needs as needed.
• Perform assigned laundry duties.
• Respond to resident emergency calls in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with new resident-care protocols.
• Immediately report changes in residents’ conditions to the Wellness Nurse or Resident Wellness Director.
• Maintain established infection-control practices.
• Report accidents and incidents to a supervisor as soon as possible, regardless of severity.
• Maintain the confidentiality of residents’ personal-care information.
• Honor residents’ personal and property rights.
• Be knowledgeable and prepared for disasters, fires, and other emergencies.
• Wear the company uniform and remain resident-ready at all times.
