About The Position

This role is responsible for providing direct support to individuals, ensuring their needs are met in a safe, healthy, and compliant environment. The associate will set a positive example, adhere to person-centered plans, and facilitate goal achievement for individuals. Key responsibilities include maintaining confidentiality, protecting individuals from harm, cooking meals, managing individual funds, completing documentation, assisting with daily living activities like laundry and cleanliness, administering medications, and ensuring effective communication between shifts. The role also requires cooperation with regulatory bodies and adherence to company values and policies.

Requirements

  • Must remain awake and immediately accessible in all homes requiring 24/7 care.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have auto insurance.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a direct care role.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Medication administration certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Set positive examples for individuals at all times.
  • Adhere to person-centered plans and behavior plans as written for each individual.
  • Provide opportunities for individuals to meet their goals, including teaching groups and encouraging attendance.
  • Provide quality care in a safe and healthy setting, free from harm, while upholding individual rights.
  • Create a space of trust and relationship with all individuals.
  • Protect all individuals from abuse and/or neglect and report any occurrences immediately.
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of all individuals.
  • Follow and uphold all house guidelines.
  • Cook meals as necessary for individuals based upon food specifications, diets, food exchanges, and documentation.
  • Understand the process for food supply and storage.
  • Transport individuals and attend appointments with individuals, advocating and obtaining necessary documentation.
  • Utilize individual funds as applicable to help individuals budget.
  • Complete required documentation before the end of shift, including progress notes, miscellaneous notes, daily support logs, event reports, incident reports, LOA forms, and individual inventories.
  • Assist with supervision of individuals doing their laundry as needed per assignment sheet.
  • Coach and assist individuals with bedroom cleanliness per house guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the home site according to the assignment chart, ensuring it is inspection-ready at all times.
  • Remain awake and immediately accessible in all homes requiring 24/7 care.
  • Administer medications as needed.
  • Hand off communication to next shift staff.
  • Cooperate with Beacon Specialized Living, the Department of Human Services (DHS) staff, or any other regulatory body during any inspection, investigation, or inquiry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
