About The Position

The Resident Care Manager (RCM) is responsible to the Director of Care (DOC) for the management of the Resident Care Services within the long-term care residence (RCM-RN or RCM-LPN). The Resident Care Manager ensures the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the overall operation of the home in accordance with current applicable provincial standards, guidelines, and regulations, to ensure that the highest standard of resident care is delivered and maintained at all times. The RCM promotes collaborative team practice and encourages practices that respect resident, family and staff rights, individuality, and diversity.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years’ progressive clinical nursing experience.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership role, with demonstrated excellence in management, leadership, clinical judgment, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable provincial legislation and standards: Alberta: Continuing Care legislation and Continuing Care Health Service Standards. British Columbia: Community Care and Assisted Living legislation, Residential Care Regulation, and WorkSafeBC requirements. Ontario: Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, Employment Standards Act, 2000, Occupational Health and Safety Act, infection prevention and control (IPAC), and Accreditation Canada standards.
  • Experience in caring for residents with Dementia.
  • Computer and Technology proficiency including experience and knowledge of Point Click Care and other software applications.
  • Current registration in good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory body: Alberta: Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA), as appropriate. British Columbia: Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), as appropriate. Ontario: College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
  • Must be fluent in English, both orally and in writing.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Role models AgeCare Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles.
  • Reviews trends on all unusual incident reports and medication incident reports and ensures prompt corrective action to prevent recurrence.
  • Participates in Provincial Accommodation & Licensing Standard, Continuing Care Health Service Standard and Infection, Prevention and Control compliance processes and completes action plan development with follow-up.
  • Ensures Critical / Reportable Incident and all allegations of Resident abuse and PPC investigation processes are completed within timelines for responses in collaboration with the Director of Care.
  • Is responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures in collaboration with Director of Care.
