About The Position

The Resident Care Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the 2nd and 3rd shifts, ensuring the well-being of residents and the productivity of staff. This role involves managing staff evaluations, training, building appearance, equipment checks, scheduling, and adherence to company policies and state regulations. The manager must be available on-call and accessible to staff, maintain professional communication, and work collaboratively with other departments.

Requirements

  • Manages schedules for all three buildings for 2nd and 3rd shifts.
  • Fill open needs on schedule for 2nd/3rd shifts.
  • Regular updates with call-ins and schedule to Director of Resident Care.
  • Monitor overtime and alert Director when staff are close to OT hours.
  • Making sure that all shifts are covered before leaving at the end of the day.
  • Assist Director of Resident Care with staff meetings.
  • Maintain Paylocity schedules.
  • Ensure there is always a FT employee working every shift.
  • Ensure the female-to-male ratio is appropriate for the building.
  • Be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Schedule staff training, including MCG and PCG reviews.
  • Review the scheduling process and keep the most current schedule in your possession.
  • Discuss scheduling concerns with staff.
  • Work with the Director to update the scheduling template as staffing changes arise and new staff are hired or terminated.
  • Create and maintain holiday schedule.
  • Payroll- verify hours against schedule and approve PTO.
  • Lift and carry light objects such as resident charts, thermometers, basins and resident care items without assistance.
  • Lift, push/pull 50lbs+, assisting residents to/from their rooms.
  • Stand or walk up to 90% of an eight-hour shift.
  • Reach overhead occasionally to obtain items from shelves/closets.
  • Able to wear gloves and other protective equipment.
  • Hearing, seeing and reading skills are required to comprehend directions, identification of residents, emergency alarms and use of equipment.
  • Attention span necessary to complete required tasks.
  • 100% of workday is spent indoors.
  • Occasional exposure to blood/bodily fluids.
  • Frequent exposure to bacteria, viruses, and other infectious agents.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals such as soap, disinfectants.
  • Frequent exposure to latex, vinyl, plastic, or materials used in personal protective equipment.
  • Frequent exposure to injuries due to the unpredictable behaviour of residents.
  • Able to push approximately up to a 100-pound cart on casters 392 feet (length of hallway) on carpeted floor.

  • FT Supervisors are to assist with the staff that work their shift.
  • Supervisor assists with storage rooms.
  • In good weather, an assistant may accompany a resident outdoors for a walk, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct annual staff evaluations for 2nd and 3rd shift employees.
  • Oversee and ensure proper training for all staff, including MCG and PCG duties.
  • Develop supervisors for all shifts.
  • Keep employees on task and update a task list to ensure productivity.
  • Ensure nursing stations, storage rooms, and resident rooms are maintained professionally, functionally, and are organized.
  • Perform regular equipment checks, including B/P cuffs, med carts, thermometers, computers, whirlpools/showers, sit-to-stands, and scales.
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff and supervisors.
  • Oversee scheduling needs, ensuring appropriate staff placement, full-time coverage, appropriate gender ratios, and adequate staffing numbers.
  • Monitor overtime and report to the Director.
  • Ensure both building and staff are doing well before leaving at the end of the workday.
  • Monitor staff/resident ratio and update the Director if changes are needed.
  • Create a staff/resident ratio for each building and shift.
  • Take charge, claim authority, make expectations clear, and create clear boundaries for all staff.
  • Interview and hire for both MCG and PCG positions.
  • Work effectively with other departments, including HR and Maintenance.
  • Document staff/family conversations that could lead to potential problems.
  • Stay up-to-date on state licensing rules and regulations, educate staff, and enforce rules and guidelines.
  • Be available on-call at all times and accessible to staff by phone.
  • Respond to emails in a timely manner, checking email more than once a day.
  • Ensure all tasks are handled and concerns are addressed during approved vacation time, either by assigning coverage or being available via phone/email.
  • Adhere to Park Village Pines Policies and HIPAA regulations.
