About The Position

The Resident Care Director is responsible for coordinating resident care to ensure residents remain as independent as possible within the community. This role assists residents and their families in maintaining the resident's physical, psychosocial, and emotional well-being. The Director acts as a liaison with healthcare personnel and community support systems to provide care. Responsibilities include hiring, evaluating, scheduling, and supervising staff, representing the residence to the community, and fostering a culture of quality service and customer satisfaction for residents and positive engagement for associates.

Requirements

  • Licensed practical nurse or Registered Nurse licensed in the State they are practicing in.
  • Connecticut requires either an RN with a baccalaureate degree in nursing and a minimum of (2) years full time equivalent clinical experience in nursing, at least (1) of which shall be in a home health care agency or community health program that included care of the sick at home; or a diploma or associates degree in nursing and at least (4) years full time or full time equivalent clinical experience in nursing within the past (10) years, at least (1) year of which shall be in a home health care agency or community health program that included care of the sick at home.
  • At least 25 years of age.
  • At least (2) years of demonstrated experience with caring for seniors.
  • Supervisory management skills.
  • Certificates or education as required by State/Federal regulatory agencies, if applicable.
  • Active nursing license in the state you are employed.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets, database managers, and presentation software.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Knowledgeable about care for seniors with dementia according to LCB Senior Living Policy, as well as current State and local standards.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and completely is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission and core values of the Residence and LCB Senior Living to residents, visitors, co-workers and the surrounding community.
  • Actively grow community occupancy by representing and interacting positively with potential residents, family members and professionals.
  • Assume administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for the overall management of the Residence, delegating authority for day-to-day operations when absent.
  • Ensure open and timely communication with associates, residents, families, and LCB Senior Living regarding community operations and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with LCB Senior Living's Policies and Procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and legal requirements governing community operations.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement processes, strategic planning, and environmental safety programs to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Manage a community outreach plan and liaison network with industry partners to identify and partner with local service resources.
  • Ensure associates are provided with necessary resources to perform their duties efficiently and economically.
  • Maintain departmental budgets.
  • Assure implementation of all operating and financial controls required by community and LCB Senior Living policy.
  • Ensure proper planning and implementation of staff orientation and training.
  • Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with all departments to assist in eliminating/correcting problem areas and improving services.
  • Ensure completion of timely associate reviews.
  • Ensure that counseling efforts, retraining, and corrective action are administered fairly and in accordance with LCB Senior Living policies.
  • Administer topical and oral medications, as well as ear and eye drops (LMA in Massachusetts), and injectables where allowed by regulation, with written physician's orders.
  • Ensure completion and review of incident/accident reports and implement changes to minimize future issues, ensuring proper communication with LCB Senior Living and state compliance reporting.
  • Prepare annual operating budget in conjunction with LCB Senior Living, ensuring communication of required resources for community programs and activities.
  • Review resident complaints and grievances and assure appropriate actions are taken, discussing with residents and families as appropriate.
  • Oversee all record-keeping functions within the facility, including services provided.
  • Ensure that all required staffing and schedules, including backup coverage, are met at all times.
  • Conduct and/or attend required in-service training and orientation as per state regulations.
  • Manage the daily operation of the residence and provide direction and leadership to Department Managers.
  • Participate in the Manager-on-Duty Program.
  • Coordinate and manage all nursing and assisted living aide services rendered to clients by direct care staff.
  • Supervise assigned nursing personnel and assisted living aides in the delivery of nursing services and assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Ensure the evaluation of the clinical competence of assigned nursing personnel and assisted living aides.
  • Participate in or develop agency objectives, standards of care, policies, and procedures concerning nursing services and assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Participate in direct service staff recruitment, selection, orientation, and in-service education.
  • Participate in program planning, budgeting, and evaluating activities related to clinical services.
  • Plan for clients who no longer receive or require services.
  • Ensure the availability of nursing services on a twenty-four (24) hour basis.
  • Provide weekly reports to the executive director regarding problems associated with core services, the managed residential community, or the assisted living services agency.
  • Provide monthly reports to the service coordinator regarding statistical data including the number of clients served and services provided.
  • Oversee compliance with LCB quality initiatives and state regulatory compliance program.
