About The Position

The Resident Care Associate position at Viva Senior Living is responsible for providing direct care to residents, ensuring their needs are met with compassion and dignity. This role requires adherence to regulatory standards, facility policies, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for residents and their families. The associate must be able to communicate effectively, understand and respect residents' rights, and contribute to the overall continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Must possess, at a minimum, a high school diploma or a GED.
  • Must be able to work well with peers in a congenial work environment.
  • Must maintain the utmost compassion and dignity to the residents and adhere to the Resident Bill of Rights.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must maintain the highest standards in caring and servicing the needs of the residents and residents' family members and loves ones.
  • Must adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
  • Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, agitated residents.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to residents and report care provided and changes in resident condition to the Resident Care Director.
  • Participate in routine resident care activities, including assisting with daily living.
  • Assist residents with lifts, moves, and transports, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to inquiries from residents, visitors, and personnel.
  • Be knowledgeable of individualized care plans and provide support according to them.
  • Contribute to the care planning process by providing observations of residents' needs and preferences.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
  • Understand and uphold residents' rights, including freedom from restraints and abuse.
  • Promptly report incidents or evidence of resident abuse or rights violations.
  • Perform job responsibilities in accordance with safety and infection control procedures.
  • Maintain residents' skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers and other damage.
  • Arrive at work on time.
  • Ensure residents and families receive high-quality service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, or hazardous chemicals.
  • Report work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to a supervisor.
  • Complete all assigned training and skills competency.
  • Participate in life safety and emergency drills and trainings.
  • Fulfill responsibilities during facility emergency plan activation.
  • Assist with the evacuation of residents in emergency situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information.
  • Report non-compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality.
  • Protect residents from abuse and cooperate with investigations.
  • Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents.
  • Report any retaliation or discrimination.
  • Fulfill individual responsibility to report any suspicion of a crime.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
