About The Position

The Resident Care Associate position at Viva at Bedford is within the Nursing Department and reports to the Resident Care Director. The role requires adherence to business conduct standards, federal, state, and local health regulations. A high school diploma or GED is mandatory. The associate must work collaboratively with peers in a positive environment, demonstrating compassion and dignity towards residents and upholding the Resident Bill of Rights. This position may require on-call availability during emergencies and strict adherence to Viva Senior Living's attendance policies and the Employee Handbook. Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking, understanding) is essential. The associate is expected to maintain the highest standards in caring for residents and their families.

  • Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
  • Must provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to residents and contribute to continuity of care by reporting care provided and changes in resident condition to the Resident Care Director.
  • Assist residents with lifts, moves, and transports, using proper body mechanics or lifting devices.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to inquiries from residents, visitors, and personnel.
  • Be knowledgeable of individualized care plans and provide support accordingly, contributing observations to the care planning process.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors to promote a homelike environment.
  • Understand residents' rights, including freedom from restraints and abuse, and promptly report any violations.
  • Perform job responsibilities in accordance with safety and infection control procedures, including hand washing, glove use, and proper disposal of materials.
  • Maintain residents' skin integrity to prevent pressure ulcers and other damage.
  • Arrive at work on time.
  • Ensure residents and families receive high-quality service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, or hazardous chemicals.
  • Report work-related injuries and illnesses immediately to a supervisor.
  • Complete all assigned training and skills competency.
  • Participate in life safety and emergency drills and trainings.
  • Fulfill responsibilities during emergency plan implementation or activation.
  • Assist with the evacuation of residents in emergency situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information.
  • Report non-compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, or breaches in confidentiality.
  • Protect residents from abuse and cooperate with investigations.
  • Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, misappropriation of property, exploitation, or mistreatment of residents.
  • Report any retaliation or discrimination.
  • Fulfill individual responsibility to report any suspicion of a crime.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Adhere to scheduled shifts.
