This Resident Care Assistant (Caregiver) position is for the Nikkei Senior Gardens community in Arleta, which celebrates Japanese-American culture by offering a blend of Japanese and American traditions, cuisine, and activities. The Resident Assistants play a critical role by providing compassionate and personalized direct care to residents in the memory care unit, assisting them with activities of daily living, and ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This role promotes independence, maintains privacy, and respects resident dignity within a team setting that provides a supportive and nurturing environment. The Resident Assistant will work in assisted living and memory care, with availability needed for weekdays, weekends, AM, and PM shifts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current First Aid and CPR license or ability to obtain.
  • At least 12 months of experience in a professional caregiving setting.
  • Experience with memory care is required.
  • Strong communication skills and a teamwork mindset.
  • A positive attitude, empathy, patience, and a commitment to treating our residents with dignity and respect.
  • Attention to detail, physical stamina, and high integrity.
  • Willingness to participate in weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transferring, as needed, while adhering to community protocols, licensing regulations, and guidelines that ensure the safety of both residents and employees.
  • Prioritize independence and emotional support for the residents by providing compassionate care, engagement, and companionship.
  • Encourage and assist with participation in life enrichment activity programs.
  • Assist with light housekeeping duties, such as making beds and tidying rooms.
  • Promote open communication between healthcare professionals, families, residents, and staff.
