About The Position

Enhances and improves the SRIM experience for our residents, families, and visitors, promotes the core value of the Golden Rule, provides safe transportation services for independent living and memory care residents while caring for the personal needs, safety and comfort of our residents as assigned. This role involves speaking to and interacting with residents, families, and visitors with empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect, and safely driving residents to appointments and activities. The position requires effective communication, adherence to instructions, good working habits, and observation of safety hazards. The associate will get to know residents and families by name, follow policies and procedures, work as a team player, and maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Compliance with attendance, dress code, and HIPAA regulations is expected. The role also involves taking initiative, seeking solutions, and performing other reasonable duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or more than one year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to drive company vehicle (van) and golf cart.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must have the physical ability to transfer residents and propel wheelchairs.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell.
  • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Speaks to and interacts with residents, families, and visitors while showing empathy, kindness, compassion, and respect.
  • Safely drive both IL and MC residents to Dr. appointments, shopping and other various activities.
  • Communicates effectively in a language that each resident is capable of understanding.
  • Follows written and verbal instructions.
  • Practices good body mechanics and safe working habits.
  • Observes and reports safety hazards immediately to supervisor.
  • Demonstrates an ability to know each resident and family member by addressing by name.
  • Knows, understands, and follows established policies and procedures in emergency situations.
  • Works as a team player with other associates and management in accomplishing work assignments.
  • Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude about work issues, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates a positive and respectful attitude with residents, families, visitors, associates, and management.
  • Complies with attendance and call off policy.
  • Attends and/or participates in trainings, in-service meetings, and mandatory meetings.
  • Wears clean and appropriate dress per established dress code policy.
  • Refrains from discussing resident care issues with families and visitors, and refers all inquiries to immediate supervisor.
  • Knows, understands, and follows HIPAA regulations.
  • Takes initiative in work, seeks out additional information, and offers solutions/suggestions.
  • Takes on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties.
  • Performs all other reasonable duties as assigned or as requested.
